How can I begin to describe how much I loved Beautiful World, Where Are You? I can't get enough of Sally Rooney, and this is her best novel yet. Set against the backdrop of the current political and climate crises, it follows best friends Eileen and Alice as they navigate love, friendship and desire in their late twenties. In emails back and forth, they try to make sense of their lives, loving and hurting each other, asking how to believe in, and create, a beautiful world. Quintessentially Rooney and yet better than ever before. Read it! --Ellie

Everything's in The Magician and that's what makes it magical. Certainly you get Mann the Artist-Magician--you're privy to the writer's motivations, muses, methods even--but for me, it was Mann the Human-Magician--his feelings about each of his children, his tortured sexuality, his reticence as per the politics of the country he loved. The minutiae: that's what makes this big book so wonderful: the tiny moments of Mann's life that build and brew and bubble in his mind until they burst onto the page, or at least, in Toibin's imagination. Great book. --Erica

Percival Everett demonstrates his literary genius anew with The Trees. Incisively crafted with healthy helpings of mordant humor along the way, Everett’s latest follows two Mississippi state detectives as they investigate a macabre murder scene in Money, Mississippi, site of the lynching of Emmett Till decades prior. It’s a police procedural; it’s a thriller; it’s a ghost story; it’s a sharply honed commentary on racism and police violence. Just hold on for the ride. --Elese

A horror novel unlike any other, The Last House on Needless Street is a wickedly smart gut-punch of psychological terror. Masterfully crafted and utterly relentless, it crawled under my skin and has refused to leave. A must-read for all horror fans, guaranteed to enthrall from the first sentence to the last. --Zach
The memorable characters and stories in this unforgettable novel are inextricably linked, yet each stand on their own as philosophical gems. If you like slipstream realities, science fiction, and pioneering ants, as experienced by a sympathetic British family, this is the perfect - and unconventional - book for you! --Maggie
