You can't stop reading. You can't it down. For as long as it takes to read it, you'll call in sick, you'll cancel engagements, you'll stay up waaaay too late. Absolutely delicious. --Erica
A page-turning thriller with a social justice twist- I love it! Hana Westerman is an exciting new character to follow, with an intriguing story to tell us about New Zealand's Indigenous peoples not to mention as a female Detective Inspector in a nearly all-male force. I can't wait to read more. --Jamie
A charmer. The world is full of novels you wish you'd read, novels you read and feel proud like you feel when you climb a really steep mountain, fun novels that flit away as soon as you close them. And then there's Vintage Contemporaries: a novel with a heart the size of the City of New York. Dan Kois takes the crazy-mixed up world of publishing, the exhilarating music of the early 2000s, the depth of Angels in America, the passion of NYC politics, coffee, Laurie Colwin, Off Off (off) Broadway, and the um joys of parenthood and makes a paella so pungent and delicious and umami-ey and sweet that you just want to tip the whole pan into your mouth at once. Advice: go slow lest you miss something. What a great read. --Erica
A complex, engaging story of a small Southern town grappling with racial justice, human rights, religion and murder in the mid 1970’s. Family ties and long-buried secrets are tested as a woman fights to clear the name of her beloved. An absolute page-turner filled with colorful characters in a rich setting. --Jamie
