Flyleaf Second Sunday Poetry Series : Grace MacNair and Destiny Hemphill

Join us for our Monthly Poetry series, an afternoon of poetic readings. Featured poets will each read for 20 minutes, followed by a short break to sign books, then an open mic. Please sign up by 2:30 pm, and limit your reading to one poem, one page. We hope to see you there!
Grace MacNair is the author of a chapbook, Even As They Curse Us, from Bull City Press (2022). She won Radar Poetry's 2021 Coniston Prize and Palette Poetry's 2022 Emerging Poet Prize. Raised in western North Carolina, she has an MFA from Hunter College. Her poems have or will appear in The Threepenny Review, The Missouri Review, and elsewhere. She has received several residencies and fellowships, including from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and Bread Loaf Writers' Conference.
Destiny Hemphill is the author of motherworld: a devotional for the alter-life (Action Books, 2023), and the chapbook Oracle: a Cosmology (Honeysuckle Press, 2018). A chronically-ill poet and ritual worker living in Durham, she served as the Kenan Visiting Writer in Poetry at UNC-Chapel Hill from 2022-2023.She is the recipient of fellowships from Naropa University’s Summer Writing Program, Callaloo, Tin House, and Kenyon Review’s Writers Workshops.
