Flyleaf Second Sunday Poetry Series: Joseph Mills & Molly Rice

Flyleaf will offer seating for up to 60 in-person guests, with priority access given to folks who purchase the book. Masks recommended.
Featured poets will each read for 20 minutes, followed by a short break to sign books, then an open mic. Please sign up by 2:30 pm, and limit your reading to one poem, one page. Hope to see you there!
Joseph Mills is the author of eight volumes of poetry, most recently Bodies in Motion (Press 53), poems about dance. His collection This Miraculous Turning (Press 53) was awarded the North Carolina Roanoke-Chowan Award for Poetry for its exploration of race and family. In 2019, he published his debut collection of fiction, Bleachers, consisting of fifty-four linked pieces that take place during a youth soccer game. He is a faculty member at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Information about his work is available at www.josephrobertmills.com.
Molly Rice’s debut full-length poetry collection, Forever Eighty-Eights (Press 53), was published in 2022. She is also the author of a chapbook, Mill Hill (2012). She has held residencies teaching poetry, storytelling, theatre, film, and English as a Second Language in North Carolina, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Russia, and Hungary. She teaches at St. Stephens High School in Hickory, NC where she is director of the Tractor Shed Theatre. An award-winning theatre educator, she has earned recognition for her program’s civic engagement work with those who live on the margin.
