Flyleaf Second Thursday Poetry Reading and Open Mic featuring Jonathan K. Rice and Beth Ann Cagle

Two featured poets will each read for approximately 20 minutes and, after a short break for the readers to sign books, there will be a poetry open mic. Please sign up to read no later than 6:45 pm. Each open mic reader will be limited to no more than a page of poetry. There’s an informal get-together before the reading at 6:30pm next door at Root Cellar.

Jonathan K. Rice is founding editor and publisher of Iodine Poetry Journal. His latest poetry collection is Killing Time (Main Street Rag Publishing, 2015). Other books include Shooting Pool With a Cellist (Main Street Rag, 2003) and Ukulele and Other Poems (Main Street Rag, 2006). His poetry has also appeared in many publications. He is also an abstract artist and has had solo exhibits. He has been a longtime host of poetry readings in Charlotte, NC, where he lives with his family.

Beth Ann Cagle—widely published poet and photographer, senior editor of moonShine review, and former editor of Kakalak—has served as a college writing instructor, magazine writer, and newspaper reporter. She's been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net and won several awards, including first place for her chapbook, The Fearless Tattoo. She received the 2016 Irene Blair Honeycutt Legacy Award. Her full-length poetry book, First Comes Love, was published by Main Street Rag Publishing Company in 2015.
