Flyleaf Second Sundays Poetry Series & Open Mic feat. Tina Barr and the work of Susan Laughter Meyers (read by her sister & friends)

Featured poets will each read for approximately 20 minutes and, after a short break for the readers to sign books, there will be a poetry open mic. Please sign up to read no later than 2:45 pm. Each open mic reader will be limited to no more than a page of poetry. Hope to see you there!
Tina Barr’s 6 volumes of poetry include Green Target, winner of the Barrow Street Press Book Prize, and this year’s Brockman-Campbell Award, her 1st book, The Gathering Eye, winner of the Tupelo Press Editor’s Award, her 3rd book, Kaleidoscope from Iris Press, and 3 chapbooks, all winners of national chapbook competitions. Her fellowships include the National Endowment for the Arts, the Tennessee Arts Commission, The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and The MacDowell Colony. She co-edits The Shining Rock Poetry Anthology & Book Review, http://www.shiningrockpoetry.com and teaches in the Great Smokies CW Program at UNC, Asheville.
Susan Laughter Meyers was the author of two collections of poems: My Dear, Dear Stagger Grass, the inaugural winner of the Cider Press Review Editors' Prize, and Keep and Give Away (University of South Carolina Press, 2006) which received the South Carolina Poetry Book Prize, the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA) Book Award for Poetry, and the Brockman-Campbell Book Award. Her chapbook Lessons in Leaving (1998) won the Persephone Press Book Award. Her poetry has been published in numerous journals, including The Southern Review, Prairie Schooner, Beloit Poetry Journal, Crazyhorse, and jubilat, as well as Poetry Daily, Verse Daily, and Ted Kooser's "American Life in Poetry" column. Friends of Susan's will read from her posthumous collection, Self-Portrait in the River of Déjà Vu.
