Franz Herbert suffers from epileptic seizures; are they a curse that takes him away from his wife, family, and friends, or a gift that allows him to explore the depths of the cosmos?
An exploration of a man’s struggle with a neurological disease, the nature of reality, and the workings of his own mind, The Astronomer is both a love story and the tale of a man’s journey to find his place in the universe.
Brian Biswas has published over sixty short stories both in the U.S. and internationally. He has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, anthologized in The Irreal Reader, had stories read on Australian Public Radio, and translated into Vietnamese. He is listed in the International Writers and Authors Who's Who, Marquis Who's Who, and the Internet Speculative Fiction Database. A Betrayal & Other Stories, a collection spanning thirty years, was published by Rogue Star Press in 2018. The Astronomer, his first novel, was published by Whisk(e)y Tit Press in 2023, and a second collection, Blister and Other Stories, is forthcoming in November 2023. Brian writes in a literary style known as magical realism which attempts to portray a slightly exaggerated but internally consistent view of reality. He also writes Gothic or neo-Gothic tales and straightforward science fiction, though often tinged with magical elements.
