Wool doesn't reinvent the sci-fi genre. In fact, this book hearkens back to classic century-spanning epics such as the Foundation series or A Canticle for Leibowitz. The good news is that the formula still works, and Howey's dystopic world is as well thought out as it is frightening. Plus, Howey has a great Horatio Alger-esque backstory as a former bookseller (hey, that's my job!) turned best-selling author.— Hank
