Serendipity in the Search for Jens, Karen Marie, and Ane: A Polygamy Story tells of the author's ancestral family in Denmark who in 1874-75 joined the "Mormon" Church. They left working other people's farms and traveled by ships and trains to the Territory of Utah to settle near their newly espoused Church. Hardscrabble farming proved challenging, and the request of their ecclesiastical leader that Jens enter into polygamy was even more challenging. Equal treatment of both families proved difficult, and a prison sentence for cohabitation loomed. Jens's families attempted to cope valiantly with the rigors of the lifestyle he, Karen Marie, and Ane had obediently entered into without realizing what it entailed.
