This is book number 1 in the Red Queen series.
YES. This YA novel is the epitome of why I fell in love with the fantasy genre as a young adult. The world the author created felt strangely plausible and was completely immersive. When I had to force myself to put down the book, it took a few minutes to transition back to reality. And the protagonist - YES. She is everything I want for a female fantasy character. She's strong and willful, but secretly vulnerable. The writing was strong, economic and effective. If you are a fantasy reader (Bone Season, Eragon series, etc.) READ THIS. If you aren't a fantasy reader, read it anyway because this might turn you into one.
Also - I met Victoria Aveyard in person and she's so fantastic. Slight girl crush.— Taylor
