2023 Color of Education Summit
Preorder your books below for the 2023 Color of Education Summit hosted at the McKimmon Conference & Training Center at NC State on Saturday, October 7, 2023. The books will be unsigned and available for pickup at the conference, where customers will have an opportunity to meet the authors and have their books signed. Jerry Craft will be signing at 11am, after his session, and Dr. Lisa Delpit will be signing at the networking session beginning at 5:20pm.

Jerry Craft is the New York Times bestselling author and illustrator of the graphic novels New Kid and Class Act. New Kid is the only book in history to win the John Newbery Medal for the most outstanding contribution to children’s literature (2020); the Kirkus Prize for Young Readers’ Literature (2019), and the Coretta Scott King Author Award for the most outstanding work by an African American writer (2020). Jerry was born in Harlem and grew up in the Washington Heights section of New York City.
Dr. Lisa Delpit is the principal of the consulting firm Delpit Learning. She is a nationally and internationally-known speaker and writer whose work has focused on the education of children of color and the perspectives, aspirations, and pedagogy of teachers of color. Delpit's work on school-community relations and cross-cultural communication was cited as a contributor to her receiving a MacArthur “Genius” Award in 1990. She received a B.S. degree from Antioch College and an M.Ed. and Ed.D. from Harvard University. Her background is in elementary education with an emphasis on language and literacy development.
