Frank McBride presents travel guides The London Optimizer and The Paris Optimizer
Tuesday 2/4, 7 pm
Frank first got the itch for international travel when his mother and aunt took him for a day trip to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico at the age of 12, and allowed him to wander around on his own for a few hours. Since then, he has visited over 30 countries, recently focusing on Europe.
Because of his interest in travel planning and logistics, he decided to create guidebooks that would aid readers in planning more personalized itineraries as well as show readers how to make the best use of their time and money. His hope is that travelers, rather than following someone else’s checklist, will create authentic travel experiences that are memorable and meaningful for them and their travel companions.
Frank and his wife Lorraine have lived in Chapel Hill for over 26 years and have adult children living in Charlotte and Santa Fe, NM. Frank’s “day job” is in marketing research. His favorite pastimes include distance running and hiking and, of course, planning the next trip.
Frank hopes to create more Optimizers in the future. A possible next project will be an Alpine Trek Optimizer, reflecting his experience with and interest in Alpine Hut-to-Hut Treks, as well as a desire to help people plan their own treks.
