Author Events at Rashkis Elementary School

Author & Scientist Jessica Garrett will visit Rashkis Elementary on Tuesday, April 11!

About Jessica Garrett: Jessica Garrett has taught 5th and 6th grade math and science, ran after-school Science Clubs for Girls, and spent 7 years at MIT creating cutting-edge K-12 STEM curriculum, teacher professional-development workshops, and student programs. She is now a voice over artist, education consultant, and textbook author.

About the book: From A to Z, arachnids to zits, Oh, Ick! encourages budding scientists to perform real science with ick-speriments, build or craft something with ick-tivities, and investigate nature and the wilds of their home with ick-splorations. Broken down into easy-to-follow step-by-step directions and accompanied by gross (yet fascinating) facts and detailed explanations of 'What Just Happened', readers will create a stinky burp factory and bacteria hotels, solve the case of the clogged toilets, embark on a nature scat scavenger hunt, and hang out with some worms – just to name a few. Featuring 114 interactive experiments and ick-tivities, Oh, Ick delves into the science behind everything disgusting.
