Missy Julian Fox, Marie Myers Lloyd & Elaine O’Neil

sign their new book Goodnight Carolina

In this lyrical love letter to a hometown, Goodnight Carolina captures the uniqueness of Chapel Hill, North Carolina in a warm and playful manner. The book offers a humble nod to the children’s classic by Margaret Wise Brown,

yet has its own distinct style. Landmarks and legends spring to life in the rhythm and cadence of words and pictures.

A delightful bedtime storybook, Goodnight Carolina is a true tribute to the Carolina experience, perfect for Tar Heels of every age and stage.

Missy Julian Fox is a Tar Heel born and bred. She is a Chapel Hill native and literally grew up on Franklin Street in her parents’ clothing store, Julian’s.  She graduated with a B.A. in English from UNC-Chapel Hill and, after earning a M.Ed. from Boston University, began her career as a Title I reading teacher.  She cherishes her roles as mom, educator, business owner, entrepreneur, writer and enthusiastic lifelong cheerleader for Town and Gown.  Missy works as the Director of the UNC Visitors’ Center.

Marie Myers Lloyd is a proud Tar Heel and Chapel Hill resident. She is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Sociology.  She is a former educator, mother of three sons and grandmother to Ava and Rhys.  Marie had the idea for a bedtime book about her town while reading to her new grandson at his home in New Orleans. Currently she operates her own business, Stress Solutions Massage Therapy, and is a Nationally Certified and NC Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist.

Elaine O’Neil grew up in the countryside of Maine, and chose Chapel Hill as her home more than eighteen years ago.  She graduated from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, earning a B.S. degree in textile design. She is the great-granddaughter of a lighthouse keeper, granddaughter of a farmer, daughter of an ardent seamstress, and mother of three sons, Hayden, Conor, and Fletcher. Her work is featured in galleries from Maine to midtown Manhattan to shops in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina and Chapel Hill.
