This monthly reading series is co-hosted by Stan Absher and Debra Kaufman and sponsored by Flyleaf Books. An informal get-together before the reading will begin around 5:45 at the Chapel Hill Foster’s, next door to Flyleaf. Please join the group for an hour of conversation. Featured readers will each read for approximately 20 minutes and, after a short break for the readers to sign books, there will be an open mic. Please sign up to read no later than 7 pm.
This month's featured poets:
Malaika King Albrecht is the author of What the Trapeze Artist Trusts (Press 53, 2012), Spill (Main Street Rag, 2011), and Lessons in Forgetting (Main Street Rag, 2010), a finalist in the 2011 Next Generation Indie Book Awards and recipient of an honorable mention for the Brockman Campbell Award. The founding editor of Redheaded Stepchild, an online magazine that accepts only poems that have been rejected elsewhere, she lives in Pinehurst with her family and works as a therapeutic riding instructor.
Chris Vitiello lives in Durham, NC with his two daughters. His most recent poetry book is Obedience (Ahsahta, 2012), a doubled aphoristic series within two front covers. Other books include Irresponsibility (Ahsahta, 2008) and Nouns Swarm a Verb (Xurban, 1999). When he’s not putting on poet’s plays in spaces around town or writing custom poems as the Poetry Fox, Vitiello is a freelance arts, performance, and hockey writer for various newspapers, magazines, and blogs.
