A celebration
of the poetry of Lara Tucker Cottrell
Martha Brown
will read selected poems from Lara’s collection Indicia
Lara
Tucker Cottrell grew up in Chapel Hill and graduated from Sarah Lawrence with
an AB in Creative Writing and earned an MFA from the University of New Orleans. She died of cancer
in 2011 at age 45. She wrote poems in
all stages of her life, and her thesis is the essence of the collection Indicia. She taught English at Pace
Academy, where she was adored by her students and fellow faculty. Lara married Jason Cottrell, and is survived
by their two children Laja and Logan. All proceeds from the sale of Indicia go to a
fund for the children.
A selection of Lara’s poems will be read by Martha
Brown, a long time friend of Lara's mother Ellie. Martha is a speech therapist in
Chapel Hill.
