Special Storytime Event!
New York Times Best-Selling Children's Picture Book Illustrator Brian Lies & author I.C. Springman talk about their new picture book MORE
When is more too much? More is a gorgeous, yet subtle story about overconsumption. A magpie, given a marble by a mouse friend, discovers a joy in collecting things. First a Lego brick, then a coin, some keys . . . and soon nothing turns into plenty, which in short order turns into much too much and magpie’s friends are staging an intervention.
Brian Lies has a devoted fan base of librarians, booksellers, parents, and of course children. His beloved bat books (Bats at the Beach, Bats at the Library, and Bats at the Ballgame) have secured his place as one of today’s most well-regarded picture book creators.
Recommended age: 5-8 years
I.C. Springman has published short stories in various literary magazines. This is Springman's first children's book.
Start: 6:30 pm

Sacrificial Poets Touchstone Open Mic (1st Wednesdays) Open to all ages
The Sacrificial Poets and Flyleaf Books are teaming up to provide a community wide open mic every 1st Wednesday night. Come share or listen to poems, prose, songs, or any other personal expression with an audience of open minds and ears. This event is open to all ages.
The Sacrificial Poets are a youth Performance Poetry Team, composed of youth ages 13-19 from the Chapel Hill-Durham area. The students are chosen in a local competition (Slam) and required to attend practices, workshops, and local community performances. Now in their fifth year, they teach how to work effectively in a team environment; learn to effectively express themselves through poetry and performance; learn how to become community opinion leaders and change makers in the community.
